We can get away ended up being a weekend we couldn’t wait to get away from. Positive: The place was very cute. It was very clean. The location was perfect. It was not hard to find at all. The people we rented from were very nice and try to be accommodating as they could be. I don’t think they understood what all was going on with the place. As the checkout list was put things in the dishwasher there was in a dishwasher. Turn all your apps off of the TV which there wasn’t a TV. I don’t know when the last time they had been there, but those are some things they needed to know. But they were really nice and got back with us quickly when we would try to get in touch with them about any questions. We learn more the second day, but that first night was rough. Negative: It was freezing when we arrived. There appeared to be a lock on it therefore we had to reset every two hours day and night in order to keep it above 65. That would be fun the summer not very good when the temps outside was 30° and below. It was very drafty, which did not help at all. To top everything off there was no TV. Therefore, we only had our phones to watch, which was not very good while trying to watch a movie. We made the best of it, but it was a week trip to get away for a break and it turned into a not so much break. We love Mentone. We love the places there antique shop, and such. We were very disappointed at the obstacles.

We arrived to find the cabin in very poor condition. It was dusty, with hair and dead bugs in several areas. The fridge and stovetop hadn’t been cleaned, and the floors were filthy, our feet turned black after walking barefoot. There was no clean mop, only a Swiffer pad caked with dirt and hair. We spent about two hours cleaning just to make it livable.Outside, there were beer boxes and food wrappers near the cabin despite warnings about bears. The bedroom surfaces were covered in dust, which triggered our allergies. On top of that, the ice maker and water filter were broken, and the microwave was missing a handle. The listing emphasized a cleaning fee and a professional service, but if there is one, it’s not doing an acceptable or sanitary job. We messaged the owner within two hours and never received a response. The directions were clear and the cabin itself could be great, but arriving to a dirty rental completely dampened the experience.

East Fork Cottage is a little gem, surrounded by woods with a river view. Our grandkids loved the loft and hallway bunkbeds. Beds were comfortable, bathroom roomy & spotless. Kitchen acconmodating with a couple minor exceptions (communicated to host.) Do note, kayaks are an additional rental. Seth & Emmye were attentive & communicative hosts. We want to return & stay more than two nights!
